By installing, accessing, or using the Engram browser extension ("Service", "Extension", or "Engram"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Engram is a browser extension that:

• Captures and stores AI conversation messages from supported platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity)
• Provides search and retrieval functionality for saved conversations
• Enables intelligent memory injection into new conversations
• Offers optional multi-device synchronization with end-to-end encryption

3. User Accounts

3.1 Account Creation

• You must create an account to use cloud sync features
• You must provide accurate and complete information
• You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password
• You must be at least 13 years old to create an account

3.2 Account Security

• You are solely responsible for all activities under your account
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access
• We are not liable for losses due to stolen or compromised credentials

3.3 Account Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms
• You engage in fraudulent or illegal activities
• Your account is inactive for an extended period

4. Acceptable Use Policy

5. Intellectual Property

• You retain all rights to your conversation data
• We do not claim ownership of your content
• You can export and delete your data at any time

5.2 Engram Software

• Engram is proprietary software owned and operated by Engram
• All rights to the software, design, and implementation are reserved
• Unauthorized copying, modification, or distribution is prohibited

6. Disclaimers

6.2 Data Preservation

• While we implement encryption and backups, we do NOT guarantee data preservation
• You are responsible for maintaining local backups of important data
• We are not liable for data loss due to service outages, bugs, or security breaches

6.3 Beta Software Notice

Engram is in active development (version 0.1.0). Features may change, and bugs may occur. Use at your own risk.

6.4 Third-Party Platforms

• Engram integrates with third-party platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity)
• We are not affiliated with or endorsed by these platforms
• Changes to these platforms may affect Engram's functionality

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW:

• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages
• Our total liability shall not exceed $100 USD or the amount you paid for the Service (whichever is greater)
• We are not liable for service interruptions, data loss, or security breaches

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Engram, its developers, and contributors from any claims, damages, or expenses arising from:

• Your violation of these Terms
• Your use or misuse of the Service
• Your violation of any law or rights of third parties

9. Privacy and Data Protection

Your use of Engram is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect, use, and protect your data.

• End-to-end encryption protects your conversation data
• We cannot access your unencrypted conversation content
• Encryption keys are derived from your password and never stored

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Engram regarding the Service.
